Our process

Seven steps, in order

1. Selection

We choose for root structure and health rather than height. A plant that has been pushed to grow fast under ideal nursery conditions often declines when it reaches a normal home.

2. Repotting

Out of the nursery pot, into ours. This is when we inspect the roots — and it is why we can tell you honestly what condition a plant is in.

3. The substrate

Coco peat, perlite, volcanic rock and composted bark, mixed by us. Moisture where it is needed, air where roots need it, and a structure that does not collapse into mud after one season.

4. Acclimatisation

Plants rest in our greenhouse before sale, adjusting from nursery conditions towards something closer to a home. Skipping this step is why a plant bought elsewhere can drop half its leaves in the first fortnight.

5. Styling

Each plant is paired with a pot sized to its root ball and its eventual growth, with drainage where drainage matters. A decorative pot without a hole is a cachepot, and we will tell you to use it as one.

6. Delivery

Upright, braced, root ball secured so the substrate does not shift.

7. Life at home

Care information with every plant, and we remain reachable. If something goes wrong, send a photo — most plant problems are diagnosable from one.
